The Tokyo metropolitan government on Saturday confirmed 736 new cases of novel coronavirus infections in the capital. It is the fourth consecutive day that the number of new infections per day has exceeded 600.
The number of patients who are seriously ill is 62, down by four from the previous day, while the number of people 65 and older increased by 12 to 95.
The cumulative number of infections confirmed in the capital is 50,890, according to the metropolitan government.
