Tokyo's Kabukiza Theatre reopens in August

Shochiku Co. announced kabuki performances will resume at Kabukiza Theatre in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, on Aug.1 after shows were suspended because of the spread of the coronavirus in March, on Monday.

"August Hanagata Kabuki" will be performed until Aug. 26. The theater will be thoroughly disinfected and social-distancing measures will be put in place, such as keeping every other seat empty.

The cast includes Matsumoto Koshiro X and Ichikawa Ennosuke IV.
