Tokyo reports 340 new cases as declining trend continues

Tokyo confirmed 340 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday, down by 79 from a week before.

The capital's daily tally was lower than the figure on the same day of the previous week for the 11th consecutive day.

According to the Tokyo metropolitan government, the seven-day moving average of new infection cases in the capital was 638.1, down from the previous period's figure of 784.4.

The number of seriously ill COVID-19 patients was 68, up seven from the previous day.
