Tokyo reports 2,392 new coronavirus cases

Tokyo posted a total of 2,392 new cases of coronavirus infection Friday, surpassing the 2,000 mark for the second day in a row, the metropolitan government said.

The number of people infected with the virus was the second highest daily total following 2,447 cases recorded Thursday.

The number of seriously ill patients in Tokyo on Friday rose by eight from the previous day to the highest ever at 129.
