Tokyo logged 429 new cases of infection with the novel coronavirus on Sunday, the Tokyo metropolitan government said. The figure marks the 10th straight day below 1,000 new cases, and the first below 500 since Feb. 1 when the capital saw 393 cases.
Of the 429 newly confirmed infections, 123 were in people aged 65 or older.
According to the metropolitan government, the average number of new infections over the past week was 572 per day, 67.3% of the previous week's daily average of 850.1.
