As the Tokyo Paralympics get underway, we’re highlighting six ParalympicsGB stars from across six different sports who could shine over the next couple of weeks. Next up, it’s equastrian great Lee Pearson.
Pearson is one of Britain’s greatest ever Paralympians, having won 11 gold medals across the course of his career, including a remarkable run of dominance between Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008, where he won individual, freestyle and team dressage titles at three successive Games.
Now 47, Pearson is heading to his sixth Games and having regained the individual title he surrendered in London in Rio, will be hoping to add to his incredible haul.
Pearson, who carried the British flag at the ceremony in Rio, was overlooked for the team event as GB won gold at those Games, but is back in the quartet this time, joining defending champions Natasha Baker and Sophie Wells, as well as Georgia Wilson, who is making her Paralympic debut as a late replacement for Sophie Christiansen after she was forced to withdraw earlier this month due to a veterinary issue with her horse.
