Kenyan great Eliud Kipchoge is looking to successfully defend the gold medal he won at the 2016 Rio Olympics when the men's marathon gets underway at 8:00am AEST.
Kipchoge has been busy since Rio, breaking the world record in 2018, while also running a sub two-hour marathon in Vienna the following year, although the time is not an official mark.
He is seeking to become the third athlete to win back-to-back Olympic men's marathons.
Australia will be represented by Liam Adams, Jack Rayner and Brett Robinson.
Track cycling: Women's omnium, men's keirin to feature Australians
Australia's Annette Edmondson will contest the scratch race at 11:00am AEST as part of the four-event women's omnium.
Edmondson will later back up in the tempo race at 11:45am AEST, the elimination race at 12:26pm AEST and the concluding points race at 1:25pm AEST.
Australia had two cyclists advance to the quarter-finals of the men's keirin.
Matthew Richardson is first up in the opening quarter-final at 11:24am AEST, before Matthew Glaetzer takes to the track at 11:34am AEST.
Should the Australians progress from the quarter-finals, the semi-finals begin at 12:09pm AEST, before the gold-medal decider at 1:00pm AEST.
Water polo: Greece faces Serbia for men's gold
The men's water polo gold medal will be decided when Greece and Serbia take to the pool at the Tatsumi Water Polo Centre at 5:30pm AEST.
Serbia is the defending gold medallist in men's water polo.
The bronze medal is at stake earlier in the day, with Hungary playing Spain at 2:40pm AEST.
Handball: ROC, France to meet in women's final
The Russian Olympic Committee team has the chance to add to its gold medal tally when it plays France in the women's handball final at 4:00pm AEST.
Russia won gold at the 2016 Olympics with victory over France in the final.
Two-time gold medallist Norway takes on Sweden in the bronze-medal match at 12:00pm AEST.
Basketball: United States chasing another gold
After winning the men's gold, it is the turn of the United States' star-studded women's basketball team to clinch the double in Tokyo.
The US is heavily favoured to win the gold when it plays Japan in the final, with the tip-off at 12:30pm AEST.
The Americans have won the women's gold at the past six Olympics, while Japan will claim its first basketball medal regardless of the result.
Australia exited the tournament at the quarter-final stage following a 79-55 loss to the US.
Volleyball: Brazil take on US in gold-medal decider
The women's volleyball tournament comes down to a clash between Brazil and the US, with the final starting at 2:30pm AEST.
Brazil has twice won gold in women's volleyball, having topped the podium in 2008 and 2012.
The US is yet to win women's gold, but has previously claimed three silver and two bronze medals.
South Korea and Serbia will face off in the bronze-medal match at 10:00am AEST.
Gymnastics: Group all-around gold on the line
The group all-around rhythmic gymnastics gold will be decided, with two rotations taking place in Sunday's final.

Tokyo drifting
By Cody Atkinson and Sean Lawson
Everything good has to come to an end.
For the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, finishing more than a year behind schedule for obvious reasons, the end comes in the pool in one of the most storied Olympic events.
Competition at the Tokyo Olympics started on July 21 at Fukushima Azuma Stadium, with Australia registering the first score in any sport of the Games in its 8-1 loss to Japan in softball.
Since that first match, athletes from 205 countries have competed for 326 gold medals until Sunday.
After 18 long days, the last of the 339 gold medals handed out at the Tokyo Olympics will be in the men's water polo. It's an event steeped in history, one that sees a nation seeking their first top level international title play the defending Olympic champions.
Water polo was first included in the 1900 Paris Olympics, with Great Britain taking out the first title. Since then, men's water polo has long been the domain of European teams, with the last five Olympics going to athletes from a very concentrated area as seen above.
In fact, the only non-European team to win a gold medal in men's water polo was the USA at the St Louis Olympics in 1904.
The catch: only American teams competed in water polo at St Louis.
Serbia comes into the match as defending Olympic champions, and winners of two of the last four World League titles.
Greece, on the other hand, is higher ranked but have never taken home one of the top titles in the sport. Greece is undefeated in the Olympics so far, but the match that matters is still to come.
It is unlikely to rival the famous "Blood in the water" match between Hungary and the Soviet Union in 1956 that tied into the Hungarian Revolution happening at the same time, but it should be an intense contest nonetheless.
Whoever wins gets to take home a pretty unique honour — the most recent gold medalist in any event in the Olympics.
It is a title that they will hold for three years, until the Olympics in Paris kick off — likely with the women's 10m air rifle again.
The alternative medal tally
A popular pastime for smaller countries is to tally medals against metrics such as medals per capita and medals per unit of GDP.
It is time to join in and find a set of medal tallies where Australia just happens to come out in front.
Australia leads the way in gold medals per capita once excessively small countries like New Zealand and Jamaica are correctly excluded.
Australia has also managed to succeed at the Tokyo Olympics in spite of the handicap of bad internet speeds. With eGames excluded from the Olympics for at least the near future, this may hold for a little while longer.
With just two countries in the Australian continent (New Zealand is on a separate continental fragment called Zealandia), nobody comes close in terms of medals per country in home continent.
Finally, Australia's conversion of Tokyo 2020 gold medals into overall Cricket World Cups won is unparalleled.
