Tokyo Olympics: Full schedule for Irish athletes ahead of Day Eight

As many as five Irish athletes are in the mix for medals on Sunday as Team Ireland's Olympics gathers pace on Day eight in Tokyo.

With two boxers fighting for medals, there could also be joy on the pommel horse and in golf for the Irish contingent in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Up first, Kurt Walker will contest a featherweight quarter-final to guarantee at least bronze before Aidan Walsh - already guaranteed a medal - could put himself in a gold medal fight with a win.

Rhys McClenaghan is in action in the pommel horse final later in the morning, with the 2018 European champion among the favourites for a podium place.

And after a sensation weekend, both Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry have given themselves an incredible chance to take Olympic glory in golf.

McIlroy is just three shots off the lead eleven under par, and one off the bronze placing, while Lowry is also well in the mix just a shot further back.

Elsewhere, Thomas Barr seeks to book a place in the 400m hurdles final, while Michelle Finn and Eilish Flanagan are in the 3,000m Steeplechase.
