Annalise Murphy's ambition to win back to back Olympic medals have ended after a frustrating final day of fleet racing in Enoshima.
The 31-year-old, who won silver in Rio, had started the week slowly but moved into contention for the Laser Radial medal race on Sunday with a series of strong performances.
However the calmer conditions counted against her and, having been in 14th place and in a good position to jump into the top 10, she finished 30th in her first race today after a penalty turn, and then 40th.
It left her in the same position she started the day in and ended her Games.
After having their top 10 places expunged yesterday due to an issue with the weight of their boat, the 49er crew - Robert Dickson and Sean Waddilove - are also in 14th and have three races tomorrow to try and break into the top 10 and make the medal race.
