The Tokyo metropolitan government is considering continuing calls for restaurants and bars to close by 9 p.m. in April, according to sources.
During the state of emergency, restaurants and bars were asked to close by 8 p.m. Tokyo has asked such businesses to close by 9 p.m. through March 31.
The requests are expected to continue through April 21, one month after the lifting of the state of emergency. The metropolitan government will give 40,000 yen per day to establishments that comply with the request.
Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa prefectures are expected to follow suit.
An official decision is expected on Wednesday at the earliest.
