Under the revised law on special measures against new strains of influenza, the whole picture has become clear which facilities the Tokyo metropolitan government will request to be temporarily closed, if a state of emergency is declared due to the spread of the new coronavirus, sources said.
A wide range of facilities in Tokyo will be asked to close their doors. Among them are hostess clubs and bars, at some of which infection has become a problem, as well as universities, cram schools, sports facilities, movie theaters, music clubs and department stores.
Supermarkets and other grocery stores, convenience stores, public transportation and banks will continue to operate in principle provided they take thorough measures to prevent infection.
