Tokyo logs record 888 new coronavirus cases

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government said Thursday it has confirmed 888 new cases of the novel coronavirus, marking the highest single-day number in the capital by surpassing the previous record of 821 cases on Dec. 17.

The number of those in serious condition increased by four from the previous day to 73.
