The Tokyo metropolitan government confirmed 925 new infections with the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, the first time the daily figure has surpassed 900 since Jan. 28, when 1,065 new cases were seen.
Wednesday represented the 28th consecutive day of week-on-week increases.
According to the metropolitan government, the average number of new infections in the past week was 758.4, up 14% from the previous week at 665.3. The number of people who were seriously ill with COVID-19 was 53, down by two from the previous day.
