Tokyo confirmed 925 new cases of the novel coronavirus Tuesday, up 316 from the 609 cases reported last Tuesday during Golden Week, the metropolitan government said.
It was the first time the daily tally in the capital exceeded 900 on a Tuesday since Jan. 26, when 1,026 cases were logged.
The number of seriously ill COVID-19 patients in Tokyo increased by three to 81 from Monday.
The seven-day moving average was 824.3 on Tuesday, down 2.1% from 842.3 in the previous week.
