Tokyo logs 822 new virus cases

Tokyo logged 822 new novel coronavirus infections on Friday, up by 162 from last Friday, marking the 20th consecutive day in which the daily tally exceeded the same-day figure of the previous week.

The seven-day moving average was 686.7, up 27.9% from 537.1 last week, according to the Tokyo metropolitan government.

The number of seriously ill patients was 62, up by two from Thursday.
