The Tokyo metropolitan government announced Sunday that 518 new cases of infection with the novel coronavirus had been confirmed in Tokyo.
The number rose 132 from the previous Sunday, marking the 15th consecutive day that new infections exceeded the level seven days earlier.
The average daily number in the past seven days was 582.0, rising 21.9% from the preceding seven-day period at 477.4. Fifty patients were in serious condition, up one from the previous day.
