The Tokyo metropolitan government logged 435 new cases of the novel coronavirus Friday, down 37 from the same day last week.
The daily tally in the capital was lower than the figure logged on the same day of the previous week for the 29th consecutive day. The seven-day moving average of new cases in the capital fell to 386.4, or 84.9% of the previous week's average of 455.
According to the metropolitan government, the number of seriously ill COVID-19 patients was 51, down four from the previous day.
