
Tokyo logged 4,566 new cases of infection with the novel coronavirus on Saturday, up 51 from the previous day and marking the second-highest daily tally in the capital.
Tokyo logged a record 5,042 cases on Thursday.
The daily tally in the capital has exceeded 4,000 for four consecutive days.
The seven-day moving average of new infection cases was 3,893, up 33.3% from the previous seven-day period's average of 2,920.
According to the metropolitan government, 150 people had serious symptoms, up 9 from the previous day, and exceeding 150 for the first time since Jan. 28.
