Tokyo reported 351 new coronavirus cases Sunday, down 97 from the same day in the previous week.
According to the Tokyo metropolitan government, the number of seriously ill COVID-19 patients decreased by two to 60.
Sunday represented the 24th consecutive day that the daily tally in the capital was lower than the figure logged on the same day of the previous week.
The seven-day moving average of new cases in Tokyo was 426.4, or 76.3% of the previous seven-day figure of 558.6.
In Osaka Prefecture, 145 new infections and five deaths were confirmed Sunday, marking the third consecutive day that the daily tally of new cases has been less than 200.
