
Tokyo confirmed 342 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday, up 25 from the same day last week.
The daily tally in the capital was higher than the figure logged on the same day of the previous week for the 16th consecutive day.
According to the Tokyo metropolitan government, the number of seriously ill COVID-19 patients rose by six from Sunday to 57. The seven-day moving average increased to 585.6, an uptick of 19.8% from the preceding seven-day's average of 489.
