Tokyo confirmed 187 new infections with the novel coronavirus on Monday, marking the third consecutive day that the daily figure has exceeded the number from the same day in the previous week.
The number of COVID-19 patients with serious symptoms was 47, unchanged from Sunday.
According to the Tokyo metropolitan government, the average number of new infections in the past seven days was 302.9, an increase of 5.3% from the previous week at 287.6.
