The Tokyo metropolitan government and the Metropolitan Police Department patrolled the downtown area of Kabukicho in Tokyo on Friday, urging people to refrain from drinking on the streets.

There are concerns that many people will end up drinking on the streets or at parks because the Tokyo government will request establishments that serve alcohol to close during the state of emergency.

At around 8:30 p.m., about 20 members started patrolling the area. The group used megaphones to ask residents to cooperate in preventing the further spread of the coronavirus. When they saw people drinking on the street, they urged them to stop and head home.
