Tokyo confirms 577 new virus cases

Tokyo confirmed 577 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, the eighth consecutive day below 1,000 new cases, according to the Tokyo metropolitan government.

The number of people seriously ill increased by two to 117 from the previous day.

According to the metropolitan government, the average number of new infections over the past week was 619.7 per day, or 65.7% of the previous week's daily average of 943.6.
