Tokyo confirmed 364 new cases of infection with the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, marking the 11th consecutive day that the daily figure has exceeded the number from the same day the previous week.
The number of seriously ill COVID-19 patients in the capital decreased by one to 39.
The average number of new infections in the past seven days was 361.6, up by 17.4% from 308.1 in the previous seven days, according to the Tokyo metropolitan government.
