Tokyo confirms 1,175 new COVID-19 cases

Tokyo confirmed 1,175 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, surpassing 1,000 new cases in a single day for the 10th consecutive day, according to the Tokyo metropolitan government.

The number of infected people on the day dropped more than 800 from a week earlier, when the figure was 2,001.

The number of people seriously ill decreased by one to 158 from the previous day, the metropolitan government said.
