The Tokiwaso Manga Museum, which re-created the apartment "Tokiwaso" where famous mangaka of the Showa era spent their youth, will officially open to the public on July 7 but was open to the press on Saturday.
Tokiwaso was a two-story wooden apartment in Minami Nagasaki, Toshima Ward, Tokyo, from 1952 to 1982. Mangaka Osamu Tezuka, Fujio Akatsuka and Fujiko F. Fujio lived there when they were starting out and devoted themselves to drawing manga. The apartment was demolished because of its age, but Toshima Ward has been reconstructing the apartment near its original location.
Within the building, you will be able to view the reproduced rooms of the mangaka. Guests will also be able to view the main character from Tezuka's "Princess Knight" Princess Sapphire, as well as a self-portrait he drew on the ceiling.

Admission is free but reservations are required for the time being to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
