Toddler tests positive to coronavirus in Brisbane

One new case of coronavirus has been recorded in Queensland.

A two-year old boy in Brisbane has tested positive to coronavirus after returning to Australia from Pakistan.

Queensland Health Minister Steven Miles said he understood the child was not seriously unwell, but more information would be released later.

Mr Miles said the boy had been travelling through Pakistan with his family and had been in quarantine in Victoria before returning to Brisbane.

The child is asymptomatic and being cared for at home by the Queensland Children's Hospital, health authorities said.

His family are in home isolation.

"It would be one of our youngest cases," Mr Miles said.

It is the only new case of COVID-19 in Queensland today, and brings the number of active cases in the state to four, with two in hospital.

Nearly 5,000 people are being tested in the state per day.
