Toddler suffers broken bones in hit and run as driver flees

A toddler was rushed to hospital with broken toes after a driver ran over his foot and fled the scene.

Emergency services were called to Shore Road in Ainsdale on Saturday (April 24), after reports a three-year-old boy had his foot driven over by an orange 4x4 vehicle.

Police were called at around 4.45pm, after the driver failed to stop. Paramedics also attended and the boy was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

He had suffered several broken toes.

Officers say enquiries are ongoing to identify the vehicle and driver.

A police spokeswoman said: "If you were in the Shore Road area and saw the incident or were passing and captured any dashcam or CCTV, please let us know via email rpiu@merseyside.police.uk, @MerPolCC on Twitter or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with reference 21000261526"
