Toddler starves to death while strapped into car seat after mum fatally overdoses on meth

A toddler who was found dead while strapped into his car seat starved to death after his mother fatally overdosed on meth.

The tragic incident happened back in February, but the results of an autopsy were revealed on Monday.

The tragic tot's three-year-old sister seemingly tried to care for him as discarded morsels of food were found all around him.

The full details say that the woman could have been dead for 'several days' before she was found.

Tiffany Spears, 32, and her 15-month-old son, Nicholas Crowder, were both found dead at their home in Portland, Oregon in the US earlier this year.

The Tennessean claims that the medical examiner ruled both deaths as an accident - before adding that Spears had been dead for some time after a drugs overdose.

Davidson County Assistant Medical Examiner Emily Dennison said that Spears' cause of death was 'acute combined drug toxicity from methamphetamine and fentanyl.'

Her young son Nicholas was said to have died due to 'starvation and dehydration.'

They were both deaths that were ruled as accidental.

Tim Bailey, a representative from the local Sheriff's Office said Spears' three-year-old daughter survived after she was found in the home, before being treated at a local hospital.

Scraps of food including eggshells and dried eggs were said to have been found scattered around the car seat.

"It appeared the decedent's sister tried to take care of the decedent for several days," according to the autopsy.

The alarm was raised when a probation officer visited the family home - only to find the front door was locked.

When she peered inside a window, she saw the 3-year-old child running around with Spears on the ground motionless.

After calling police an arriving deputy found Spears to be lying on the bathroom floor with 'no obvious signs of trauma.'

According to the autopsy author, the woman had been dead for several days and drug paraphernalia was discovered at the home while the boy was strapped in his car seat in the floor of a bedroom in the home.

Police were reported to have said there were no hints to indicate there was any foul play, WSMV reported.
