A two-year-old girl was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a multi-car crash in Stranraer.

Emergency services raced to the B7077 at Stoneykirk, near Stranraer, on Thursday, January 30 following reports of a four vehicle crash.

The incident happened around 7.40am and involved a grey Ford Focus, a blue Mini One, an orange Ford Ranger and a black Land Rover Defender.

The toddler was taken to Galloway Community Hospital with serious injuries which are not life-threatening.

A 64-year old man was taken to hospital with a serious injury and a 23-year-old man was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road was closed and diversions were put in place whilst officers carried out enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

The road re-opened around 1pm.

Road Policing Sergeant Wayne Carnochan said: "Enquiries into the crash are ongoing and it's important we establish exactly what happened here.

"I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash but has not yet spoken to police to come forward.

"I would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation to get in touch."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0461 of 30 January.
