A 2-year-old boy, who was found safe three days after going missing in the mountains of Suo-Oshima, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, may not have had anything to eat during his disappearance. An official of the hospital the boy was admitted to revealed the possibility to reporters on Friday.
According to Shuto General Hospital in Yanai of the same prefecture, a doctor detected almost nothing in Yoshiki Fujimoto's stomach in an examination held immediately after he was found. Although Yoshiki was dehydrated, he got better when put on a drip. He also has recovered from abrasions and insect bites, and is eating three meals a day.
However, he has had fever of 38 C since the evening of Aug. 16. Because its cause may be a bacterial infection, Yoshiki has received a medical treatment. When he leaves the hospital will depend on his conditions.
The Yamaguchi prefectural police department plans to ask Yoshiki about the circumstances of his disappearance after he gets better.
