Toddler 'locked in hot car' sees cops called to Scots shopping centre

Police were called to a Scots shopping centre after a concerned passerby spotted a toddler 'locked inside a hot car' unattended.

Officers rushed to the Fort Kinnaird shopping centre in Edinburgh shortly before 3pm on Wednesday as temperatures soared as high as 24 degrees.

The woman who reported the incident said the child had been inside the car for around half an hour.

Posting on social media, the concerned woman said: "To the person who has left a toddler in a locked car at the Fort Shopping Centre, Edinburgh, the police have been called.

"The child has been inside the vehicle in hot sun for almost half an hour."

Police confirmed they attended the incident but no further action was taken after they have advice.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: "Around 2.50pm on Wednesday, 14 June, we received a report of a concern for a child in the Kinnaird Park area of Edinburgh.

"Enquiries were carried out and advice was given."
