Toddler in critical condition after falling into water feature in Castleblayney, Co Monaghan

A toddler is in a critical condition in hospital after she fell into a water feature this afternoon.

The one-year-old girl had to be airlifted to Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin following the incident, which happened at a property in Castleblayney, Co Monaghan at around 1pm on Monday.

The tragic accident has left the little girl in a critical condition.

A Garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí are investigating a drowning incident that occurred at a property in the Castleblayney area on 03/08/2020 at approximately 1pm.

"An infant female child, aged 1 years, was discovered in a water feature on the property and was air lifted to Temple Street Children's University Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

"Investigations are ongoing."
