The father of a toddler girl has paid tribute to his “princess” daughter after the mother and a man living at their address face trial for the child’s suspected rape and murder.
Isabelle Rose Welsh, two, died after being rushed to hospital following reports of concerns for her welfare.
Alexandra Walker and Harrison Simpson appeared in court last week on suspicion of killing Isabelle at their home in Stockton-on-tees, North Yorkshire.
Cleveland Police were called to the property on Hartington Close, Thornaby just after 4.15pm on Sunday, September 13 and arrested the pair the following day.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services, Isabelle was pronounced dead in hospital as a result of her injuries.
Walker, 25, and Simpson, 21, appeared via videolink before Teesside Crown Court last week charged with murder, while Simpson faces a further charge of rape.
Both defendants, who are also accused of causing or allowing the death of a child, spoke only to confirm their names, addresses and dates of birth.
They have been remanded in custody and will appear in court next month for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
In a heart-wrenching tribute, Isabelle's family told TeesideLive she was "full of life", adding: "Isabelle loved to watch Peppa Pig as that was her comfort show. She also loved her dummies and dancing."
Meanwhile, Isabelle's father Josh Welsh hailed her as his "princess", saying: "Rest in peace Isabelle. Daddy loves you all the world and back."
Until Monday, a court order had been in place preventing Isabelle from being named as the victim of the alleged attacks.
However, Judge Francis Laird KC, the Recorder of Middlesbrough, lifted the ban, saying: "There is no requirement for a reporting restriction as the alleged victim in this case is deceased."
