Toddler rushed to hospital after mum fills sippy cup with antifreeze by mistake

A one-year-old child is lucky to be alive after his mum accidentally poured him a cup full of antifreeze.

It was only after she poured herself a glass of what she thought was juice that the mum, from Idaho in the US, realised what had happened.

By that time the young boy had left the home to visit his father, the   Idaho State Journal  reports.

A family member had filled a juice bottle with antifreeze while repairing a car, it is reported.

The mum, thinking the bottle had juice in it, poured some of the contents into a sippy cup for her young son before he left.

An hour after the boy and his two-year-old brother had left with their dad, she called 911 to report what had happened.

She was taken to Portneuf Medical Center for treatment for antifreeze poisoning.

It took police three hours to track down the dad.

As a precaution, the boy and his brother were taken to hospital and checked out.

Police have not released the names of the family involved, but said they were relieved that no one was seriously hurt.

The child had not sipped from the cup, it is reported.
