Todd Monken: ‘it just felt right’ working with John Dorsey, Baker Mayfield and the Browns

Todd Monken has coached in a variety of places and in a lot of different systems. The new Browns offensive coordinator feels great about his new situation in Cleveland and the people he’ll be working with in his new home.

“To me, it’s pretty simple,’’ Monken said in his introductory press conference. “I’ve always chosen places based on the people and the opportunity to win. When you look at the young roster and when I came and met with Freddie (Kitchens), John (Dorsey) and the other people in the organization, it just felt right. I felt like I wanted to be part of this moving forward. In the end, it’s about winning. It’s about being around good people. It is about moving the football, regardless of who is calling it. I’ve called it in the past so it’s not as if I am not capable of that.”

He comes from an organization in Tampa Bay where it seemed not everyone was pulling in the same direction all the time. Monken appears to understand his role and is content in his newfound situation.
