Todd McShay was a big fan of Ryan Finley’s NFL debut

Count ESPN’s Todd McShay among those who liked what he saw from Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Ryan Finley during the team’s preseason opener.

Finley got in the game third behind Andy Dalton and Jeff Driskel and proceeded to look sharp against the Kansas City Chiefs.

After, McShay shared the following: “Chiefs were in complete control last night but I liked what I saw from Bengals rookie QB Ryan Finley (from NCST). Completed first nine passes. Showed really good anticipation and was getting the ball out on time.”

Indeed, Finley was poised in the pocket and didn’t have many problems guiding the offense down the field while completing a string of passes, while also showing some playmaking ability with his feet.

Finley finished the night with a 13-of-18 mark with 109 yards and a score, and his one interception was dismissable at best late as the game ended.

While the level of competition wasn’t the highest, this is what the Bengals wanted to see and it has experts buzzing, which bodes well for Finley’s chances of winning the backup job.
