Todd McShay has Titans selecting a DE in first round of 2020 NFL Draft

The 2019 NFL Draft may have come to a close, but that doesn’t mean the mock drafts have gone away.

ESPN’s Todd McShay released his 2020 mock draft on Thursday, and has the Tennessee Titans selecting Florida defensive end Jabari Zuniga with the No. 21 overall pick.

“Zuniga’s 11 TFLs and 6.5 sacks sound even better when you remember that 2019 first-rounder Jeffery Simmons ought to be healthy and ready to make plays on that line alongside him,” he wrote.

Zuniga has been a key part of the Gators’ defense, as the 6-foot-3, 246-pounder has 104 tackles, 27.5 for loss, 15.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery heading into his senior season.

Such a projection means the Titans probably finished with an average record of 9-7 or so again, and that they’re still seeking a solid sense of direction as a team.

It also means their extensive efforts between the 2019 free agency period and the year’s NFL Draft to bolster the defense — specifically the pass rush — didn’t work out quite the way they had planned it to.

It will be interesting to see just how on track McShay is with this once the 2019 season has played out.
