Todd Gurley reacts to NCAA ruling, recalls 2014 suspension

In a phone interview with Paul Finebaum, former Georgia running back Todd Gurley provided a candid reaction to the NCAA’s ruling to begin allowing college athletes to profit off of their own image from third parties.

The NCAA handed Gurley a suspension in 2014 for making money signing autographs.

Gurley admitted he knew he was breaking the now-antiquated rules, but says the suspension was “not the worst thing.”

“It helped me be a better player and a better person, just making sure I’m putting myself in the right situations. Also, you know, taking responsibility.”

Georgia’s fourth leading rusher of all time is pleased that today’s young stars can make money doing the type of thing for which he served a four-game suspension in 2014.

He continued, “I wish I was a couple years younger, but I’m super excited for everybody…the older players paved the way for me and now we’ve paved the way for the next generation.”
