For all the concerns and speculation that has surrounded Todd Gurley this offseason, his peers don’t seem overly concerned about the knee injury that held him back late last year. His fellow players still expect him to have a strong 2019 season and be one of the best playmakers in the league.
Gurley came in at No. 5 on NFL Network’s Top 100 Players for 2019 list, which is voted on by players. It’s his second straight appearance in the top 10 and his third appearance overall on the top 100 rankings. Last year, he was ranked sixth in the NFL, so he moved up one spot after a great 2018 season.

Despite missing the final two games of the regular season, Gurley still rushed for 1,251 yards, led the league in rushing touchdowns (17) and total scores (21) and gained 1,831 yards from scrimmage (fourth in NFL). If not for a banged-up knee, Gurley likely would’ve led all players in yards from scrimmage, just as he did in 2017.
The report of arthritis in his knee and the Rams’ desire to manage his workload have set off red flags for everyone – including fans, analysts and fantasy football players – but Gurley is still viewed as one of the best in the league.
It’s unreasonable to expect Gurley to have close to 300 carries in 2019, but even with a managed workload, he can still be a highly effective player.
Gurley is the fifth Rams player to make the list this year, joining Eric Weddle (100), Andrew Whitworth (91), Robert Woods (76) and Jared Goff (32).
