Todd Gurley doubtful for Sunday, Aqib Talib ruled out vs. 49ers

After starting the season as healthy as any team in the NFL, the injuries are beginning to pile up for the Los Angeles Rams. Sean McVay said on Friday that Aqib Talib will not play against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6, while Todd Gurley is doubtful.

Gurley popped up on the injury report this week with a thigh contusion, which McVay said caught the team “off-guard.” He suffered the injury last week against the Seahawks and despite the extra days of rest, he hasn’t made much progress.

Talib also injured his ribs against the Seahawks, though there didn’t seem to be any concern about it after the game. McVay said the team thought it was just the “typical bumps and bruises,” but a few injuries turned out to be worse than expected.

Assuming Gurley doesn’t play against the 49ers, Malcolm Brown will likely get the start for the Rams. McVay said Darrell Henderson will also be involved on offense, having played just two NFL snaps up to this point.

In Talib’s place, it’ll be Troy Hill getting the start at cornerback. The Rams have a lot of confidence in him, McVay said Friday, and feel he’ll be able to step up in Talib’s absence.
