Todd Gurley doesn’t plan to follow the lead of Clay Matthews, who is filing a grievance against the Rams over the $2 million in guaranteed money he’s apparently owed. According to ESPN’s Vaughn McClure, Gurley doesn’t plan to file a grievance against the Rams over a roster bonus that has yet to be paid.
Both players had offset language in their contracts with the Rams, which has likely caused the discrepancy between them and the team. However, unlike Matthews, Gurley has already signed with another team.
Because of that, the Rams owe him $2.5 million less than the $7.55 million he was originally scheduled to receive, because his contract with Atlanta is worth at least $2.5 million. As McClure points out, though, Gurley’s contract is still pending a physical even though he’s already signed on the dotted line.
Gurley and Matthews both made their concerns known on Twitter, first with the two-time All-Pro running back telling the Rams to send him his money ASAP.
He then said “it’s all fun and games,” but made it clear: “I still need my money.”
Les Snead said a few weeks ago that Matthews and Gurley both earned their money and it will be paid to them, but the Rams are still within compliance with their contracts.
