Todd Cantwell slammed for 'ridiculous' Rangers dive in Aberdeen draw

Todd Cantwell has been blasted for a 'ridiculous' dive against Aberdeen this afternoon.

The Rangers attacking midfielder was looking to make things happen as Rangers trailed the hosts after an early Bojan Miovski goal.

Philippe Clement handed the Englishman a start wide on the right.

However, the No.13 struggled to make an impact in the match and was eventually hooked as the visitors chased an equaliser. This eventually came in stoppage time from the spot, as James Tavernier scored.

But one flashpoint that caught the eye for the wrong reasons in the first half was Cantwell's dive as he headed towards the Aberdeen box.

On 23 minutes, the playmaker hit the deck far too easily, without any pressure on him from either Richard Jensen or Jamie McGrath. Referee Nick Walsh failed to book him over the incident.

And Sky Sports commentator James McFadden fumed over Cantwell's attempt to win a foul.

He said: "Todd Cantwell driving inside looking for that reversed pass. And that is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous from Todd Cantwell. He's a good player, but you don't want to be seeing that trying to buy the foul."

Meanwhile, Aberdeen hero Joe Lewis insists Rangers are 'easier' to play against than Celtic.

The former Dons captain made the statement while appearing in the Sky Sports studio alongside Kris Boyd and Chris Sutton.

The punditry trio is in position to comment on Philippe Clement's side's visit to Pittodrie this afternoon.

Last time out Boyd inferred that Aberdeen try harder against Rangers, and raise their game against his former team compared to when they face the green and white half of Glasgow.

Aberdeen have defeated Rangers in two of the last three meetings between the teams, while they haven't managed victory over Celtic since 2018.

But Lewis, who retired in the summer aged 36, reckons Celtic are simply a better team and have been over the past few years.
