Todd Cantwell has paid an emotional farewell to Michael Beale.
The playmaker has taken to social media to provide his tribute to the former Rangers manager.
Beale, who joined the Ibrox club as boss last November, was this evening sacked by the hierarchy after a dismal start to the season.
Saturday's 3-1 home loss to Aberdeen proved to be the final nail in the coffin for his tenure in the Ibrox hotseat.
Ultimately though, three defeats in seven Premiership games so far this term proved costly. This resulted in Rangers falling seven points behind Celtic in the title race just two months into the season.
Attentions now turn to who will replace Beale in the dugout at Ibrox. Steven Davis has been place in temporary charge while the Ibrox board look to recruit a new boss.
In the meantime though, Cantwell - who was signed by Beale from Norwich in January - has thanked the Englishman for allowing him the chance to play for Rangers.
He took to Instagram: "I want to thank you and your staff for bringing me to this brilliant football club.
"You allowed me to build my connection with the club and I will always be thankful for that.
"I have nothing but respect and appreciation towards you and the person you are! I wish you well."
He accompanied his tribute with a photo of Beale passing on instructions on the touchline at Ibrox.
Kevin Muscat has been named as the early frontrunner for the vacant Rangers job.
The Australian, who turned out for Rangers during the 2002/03 campaign, is the bookies' favourite to replace Beale at the helm of the Ibrox club.
Betfair have opened their market for the next permanent manager of Rangers.
Muscat, who has been linked with the job in the past, is the current favourite at 10/3. He is in charge of Yokohama F. Marinos - Ange Postecoglou's former side.
Ex-Chelsea and Brighton boss Graham Potter is in at 5/1, while Jesse Marsch, Ralph Hassenhuttl and Kjetil Knuntsen make up the top five.
Other names who are on the lengthy list include Gennaro Gattuso, Scott Parker, Steven Gerrard and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
