Todd Boehly has already completed second Chelsea deal as January transfer window opens

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has already started to back Graham Potter with new signings at Chelsea as the January transfer window officially opens. The Blues have already agreed to sign David Datro Fofana from Molde with a few more deals in the works.

Andrey Santos is close to securing a move to Stamford Bridge from Vasco da Gama as Boehly continues his plan to sign talented youngsters . Benoit Badiashile is expected to seal a move to Chelsea in the coming days as the Blues continue negotiations with Monaco.

There is one other deal that's already been completed that could help solve a key issue for Potter heading into January. Gabriel Slonina was signed from Chicago Fire in the summer but will return from his loan spell in the MLS this month.

Slonina made a return to Cobham back in October for a two-week training stint before returning to the United States. The young goalkeeper was signed in a £12million deal during the summer transfer window, following both Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei to Stamford Bridge as Boehly implemented a new transfer strategy.

The Blues loanee has already revealed that Christian Pulisic has been messaging him since he completed his move to Chelsea with the 18-year-old being considered to be one of the most promising talents, having kept 13 clean sheets in his debut season in MLS. Slonina will return to training with the Blues this coming week, following the end of his loan deal, and Potter may look to keep him in his squad for the remainder of the season considering the uncertain futures of both Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy.

Kepa has been Potter's first choice to start in goal with Mendy dropping to the bench after a run of poor form and injuries. The Spanish keeper has become a regular in the team but questions still linger as to whether he is good enough to lead Chelsea forward.

Slonina may be young but he has plenty of promise and could challenge both Mendy and Kepa for a starting spot in Potter's team once he returns to west London. The Blues could look to give Slonina more game time with another loan spell at a different club as Potter looks to lead Chelsea to a top four finish come the end of the season.
