Todd Boehly can complete Barcelona revenge mission with double Chelsea transfer option

Chelsea could benefit from Barcelona's financial problems by signing Ousmane Dembele or Raphinha this summer.

Financial Fair Play stipulations are set to come crashing down on Barca again this summer, with balancing the books at the Nou Camp likely coming down to which winger they feel is better suited to be sacrificed. Chelsea were said to have held advanced talks with the former Leeds United man Raphinha this summer, before the 25-year-old eventually chose a switch to La Liga.

The Blues, under co-owner Todd Boehly, were also ready to pounce on Dembele's contract early on as issues arose in Spain. But he re-signed with Barca.

According to reports via AS, Barcelona manager Xavi has been tasked with selecting which forward he feels is more important to his plans moving forward, with the former midfielder having also brought in high-profile stars such as Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, and Andreas Christensen.

Nou Camp president Joan Laporta sanctioned a £50million move for Raphinha earlier this year, with his performances for Leeds catching the eye of many potential suitors including Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Arsenal too.

Chelsea are plush for choices in terms of wide players at present, with Hakim Ziyech, Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic all available to Graham Potter. Potter is set to sit down with multiple players in the summer to decide their futures, with a restructure thought to be a priority under the former Brighton boss.

N'Golo Kante, Thiago Silva and Jorginho are all out of contract in 2023 too, with Christoper Nkunku and Benoît Badiashile set to join the club as part of plans to better shape the future of the squad's average age.
