Today’s racing tips: Best bets and odds for Ayr & Exeter

Today’s racing tips

  • Assertive Walk (16.20, Ayr) – 0.5pts each-way @ 7/1 Bet365
  • Saint Cyr De Pail (14.10, Exeter) – 1pt win @ 4/1 Unibet

It’s an interesting Friday of racing and our horse racing correspondent Jonathan Doidge has run the rule over the best bets on cards at Ayr and Exeter.

Albert Bartlett Triple Crown Series Handicap Hurdle (Ayr, 16.20)

It’s interesting that the O’Neills choose to dip their toe into handicap company with ASSERTIVE WALK, who has not yet had his three qualifying starts.

He’s improved with each outing so far, having run well in a bumper, then in a Windsor novices’ hurdle on debut (2m6f, good), before more recently being tried over 3m (soft) at Ludlow, where he finished last of three but not beaten far.

He’s been given an official mark of 113 here and now drops back in trip for his debut in this sphere. The handicapper looks to have erred slightly on the side of caution with that mark but you would think that if connections are having a go, they think they might have been allotted something workable. We can find out with a small stakes play on betting sites.

Friday racing tip 1: Assertive Walk (16.20, Ayr) – 0.5pts each-way @ 14/1 Bet365

Klargester Handicap Chase (Exeter, 14.10)

Trainer Jeremy Scott has saddled the winner of both renewals of this race, so topweight Zainy Champ has to be respected, especially with that yard back in better form. However, there is still plenty of scope for improvement from SAINT CYR DE PAIL, who gets the vote.

Jane Williams’ also has her string in good nick and this seven-year-old justified market leadership on horse racing betting sites with a seven-length C&D win (heavy) last December. That was, by some margin, a career best effort and a 7lb rise looked very fair when he went to Wincanton last month.

However, he ran nothing like that level that day and, although nothing was reported, you do wonder if that performance was down to some sort of breathing issue. I say that because this time, connections have gone for the tongue-tie. I’m hoping that can put him back on track and if so, he does look well handicapped.

If you don’t have a Tote account yet, they are currently offering £30 in free bets to new customers. Sign up using the link above, make a minimum deposit of £10 via debit card and then wager £10 on any sports market at odds of evens or greater.

Once your qualifying bet settles, you’ll receive £30 in free bets.

Please gamble responsibly

It’s vital that bettors take steps to remain in control of their time and budget when using gambling sites. The same applies whether you’re using the betting sites UK, slot sites, casino sites, casino apps, or any other gambling medium.

Even the most knowledgeable racing punter can lose a bet, so always stick to a budget and never chase your losses.

It’s particularly important not to get carried away by any free bets or casino bonuses you might receive, both of which are available in abundance on gambling sites, but must be approached with caution.

You can stay in control by making use of the responsible gambling tools offered, such as deposit limits, loss limits, self-exclusion and time-outs.
