Scotland has recorded a weekend spike in the number of Covid patients being treated in hospitals across the country.
Figures published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland today show there are 356 Covid patients in Scottish hospitals — up 44 from Friday.
There are 41 people battling the virus in ICUs across the nation — up seven in the same time frame.
A further 3,189 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland in the last 24 hours.
No new fatalities from the disease have been recorded in the last 24 hours, meaning Scotland's Covid death toll remains at 8,070.
However, 10,464 deaths have been registered in Scotland where the virus was mentioned on the death certificate up to August 15.
In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, West Dunbartonshire has the highest rate in the country — at 612.4 as of Sunday, August 22.
Dumfries and Galloway has the second-highest infection rate at 584 while East Renfrewshire is third with 560.1.
In terms of Ayrshire's three local authorities, North Ayrshire has the highest rate of 383.6 while South Ayrshire's rate is 324.6 and East Ayrshire's is 273.
A total of 197 new cases of Covid have been reported in Ayrshire in the last 24 hours. Broken down, 80 were in North Ayrshire, 67 in South Ayrshire and 50 in East Ayrshire.

There are 21 Covid patients in Ayrshire hospitals – up three since Friday – while fewer than five people are battling the disease in intensive care in the region.
A total of 4,082,698 people have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine and 3,572,042 have received a second dose.
