A further 6,711 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland in the last 24 hours – with the disease claiming another 10 lives.
Latest data published today by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland shows there are 653 Covid patients in Scottish hospitals – up 29 since yesterday.
The number of people battling the virus in ICUs across the nation is 60 – up five over the same period.
Scotland's Covid death toll now stands at 8,154.
However, 10,554 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to Sunday, August 29.
In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, North Lanarkshire has the highest rate in the country – at 1,289.2 as of Thursday, September 2.
Inverclyde has the second-highest infection rate at 1,247.1 while East Dunbartonshire is third with 1,184.4.
In terms of Ayrshire's three local authorities, North Ayrshire has the highest rate of 798.5 while South Ayrshire's rate is 719.6 and East Ayrshire's is 653.
A total of 399 new cases of Covid were reported in Ayrshire — 99 more than yesterday. Broken down, 146 were in North Ayrshire, 135 in South Ayrshire and 116 in South Ayrshire.

There remains 25 Covid patients in Ayrshire hospitals – up one from yesterday – while fewer than five people are battling the disease in intensive care in the region.
A total of 4,114,552 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccine and 3,709,328 have received a second dose.
