A further 4,925 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland in the last 24 hours – with the disease claiming another 14 lives.
Latest data published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland today show there are 426 Covid patients in Scottish hospitals – up 35 from yesterday
There are 47 people battling the virus in ICUs across the nation – which is an increase of three during the same period.
Scotland's Covid death toll now stands at 8,099.
However, 10,505 deaths have been registered in Scotland where the virus was mentioned on the death certificate up to Sunday, August 22.
In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, West Dunbartonshire has the highest rate in the country — at 886.0 as of Wednesday, August 25.
East Dunbartonshire has the second-highest infection rate at 794.5 while East Renfrewshire is third with 683.9.
In terms of Ayrshire's three local authorities, North Ayrshire has the highest rate of 447.7 while South Ayrshire's rate is 396.8 and East Ayrshire's is 339.6.
A total of 307 new cases of Covid have been reported in Ayrshire in the last 24 hours. Broken down, 146 were in North Ayrshire, 95 in East Ayrshire and 65 in South Ayrshire.

There are 22 Covid patients in Ayrshire hospitals – up one from yesterday – while fewer than five people are battling the disease in intensive care in the region.
A total of 4,092,295 people have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine and 3,617,687 have received their second dose.
